1. Its one of those albums that grows on each listen and although the songs are simple the Strokes add a definitive style that is their own. As an 'oldie' Is This It' reminded me of the best bits of the New York Dolls with the added ingredient of Gene to make a mix that is pure 21st Century but with more than a glance back to 's punk!In a /5(K).

Dec 05,  · Unfortunately, the attack on the World Trade Center would cause the band to remove the excellent "New York City Cops" from their debut album before it came out in the U.S., but there's still an impressive array of modern rock classics to be treasured here, including "The Modern Age," "Someday," "Last Nite," and "Hard to Explain."
